Started From The Bottom…
Last March, after endless bouts of yo-yo dieting, I finally caved to the fact that you cannot out-exercise a bad diet. Though it has taken me several methods, trials and errors, and frustrated days to get here, I feel like it was all a part of the plan.
When we are waiting for a sign, we assume it will just happen one day – a door will open, neon lights will catch our attention, and finally God will call out: “Right This Way”. Instead, the path to our purpose is often a winding road with potholes and dead ends – full of highs and lows, frustrations, doubt, and education. If you’re anything like me, you may even be looking for the u-turn, the next exit, or a space to settle in.

That’s where I was when I left my former coaching gig. That’s where I was when I signed up for a round of FASTer Way to Fat Loss. I was ready to settle in, but God already knew it wouldn’t be long before the passion for nutrition and body love started to rev my engine again.
Over the last year and a half, I’ve learned a lot about exercise, strength training, but most importantly helping other individuals to feel amazing and strong through virtual boot camps.
Settling in the Struggle
Meanwhile, I was struggling internally. I was restricting calories and wasting time on containers, then bingeing on sugar-filled garbage, then restricting and over-exercising, and slave to the number on a scale until the sh*t show started to shut down.
I didn’t understand my body anymore. My tried and true methods had long abandoned me. The culture I had become immersed in was impacting my drive for perfectionism and my shame in failure. I was working out twice, sometimes three times, a day, 6-7 days a week. I couldn’t even look at a chip without bloating from the sodium, dairy became the biggest pain – quite literally stomach pains, and the supplement I swore by was literally feeding my sugar addiction.

You know those quotes scattered all over your favorite social media boars “Sometimes you have to fall a part to rebuild stronger?”. I didn’t know it then, but that was happening to me.
Throwin’ the Hail Mary
At my most broken, frustrated and vulnerable, I sent a direct message to a local Louisville FASTer Way coach. It was on a whim after one of her stories talking about Intermittent Fasting and eating the right food, at the right time, for the right reasons. After an hour long coffee date with her, I felt hopeful and relieved. This was my Hail Mary, this was my last stab before I would succumb to medicines, more counseling, and accept a body I am not comfortable in.

I addressed all of this on Instagram in November before beginning my first round of FWTFL [FASTer Way to Fat Loss]. Just one week of eliminating gluten, dairy, and choosing foods based on their carb, proteins, or fat instead of their calories – I felt free.
I distinctly remember the happiness I felt sitting at a Mexican restaurant on Taco Tuesday. For the first time in what felt like forever, I could eat at a restaurant without food guilt, deprivation, or a color.coded.container. And being a low carb day meant – bring on that guac (but hold the chips).
Over the 6 week round, I traveled more than ever before. We spent a week in Denver celebrating the FEAST of all feasts, Thanksgiving, attended holiday parties, and hosted Christmas celebrations. I subscribed whole heartedly to “memories over macros”. For the longest period of time in my life, I maintained my body shape without over-exercising and restricting calories.
Now We Here…

In the following weeks, I thought about FASTer Way coaching. Should I? What would people think? Am I “good” enough? Could I give this gift of food freedom to someone else?
And throughout the last month and a half, I’ve responded to more inquiries about the FASTer Way, more women in my same frustrated boat, more women wanting to heal their bodies, regain energy, and get off the cycle of binge, cleanse, restrict, repeat.
After a recruitment day inspiring enough to make a sorority girl take note, an interview with someone who once sat in my seat, my winding road reached it’s next destination. With baited breath, I opened the email welcoming me to the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Coach Certification.
This week, I’ve stayed up all hours of the night pouring over nutrition, strength training, hormone healing, modifications for nutrition paired with pregnancy/breastfeeding, and more studying than I’ve done since college. All of that and a length exam later, you’re looking at a certified FASTer Way to Fat Loss Coach.
