Dream House Found

Hello, is this thing on?  Testing, testing. Mic check 1,2,3.  I’ve been MIA for the last few months because [drumroll]...We bought a house! If you recall, prior to taking on the Bonus to Bedroom transformation, I shared how we actively started house hunting. It’s only fitting that ... VIEW POST

Diaper Box Hack

Diaper Box Hack While overhauling our shared-master closet three years ago, I found myself in Home Goods, mouth agape while totaling the 4 baskets in my cart.  At $12.99 a piece, I could feel the pennies pinching in my purse.  These baskets were undoubtedly a budget buster, but the need for ... Bonus Room Makeover: Part One

Phase One Photo of the Bonus Room c/o the original listing in 2012 Before we begin, I should lay out the following facts for you: This room makeover is nearly two years in the making. It's still a big ol' incomplete on our to-do list. The ball is in my court. Okay, I think that ... VIEW POST

Daydream Believer

Things are changin' in the Canfield home.  Our too-big-for-one-kid bonus room is under major DIY construction and I've counted the days, weeks and weekends I expect it to be complete no less than 10 times.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Noah will not be moving into that room in the next ... What A Mess!

I can't believe my last post was in March.  I think I committed a little bit of blogger crime by not keeping up with weekly or even monthly posts.  Until last night, I was under the impression that you don't blog until everything's perfect so I did just that.  Nothing was perfect, so I stayed ... Instagram post 2195819068131455295_8173777065 I love a magnolia wreath but the price tags on them - not so much. .
.
Luckily our neighborhood boasts beautiful and expansive magnolia trees. While their blooms are the scent of sweet southern summers, their leaves are the hunted prize on our walks. .
.
Swipe to see the glam treatment our recent picks received. Tonight, Aria and I will assemble our dried beauties into a special holiday wreath. .
.
Feelin’ Real Joanna Gaines-y guys. Watch stories this evening to see the process and progress. .

What fun traditions or holiday crafts do you do with your little ones? Drop them in the comments below. I love hearing all the joy inside your homes!
Instagram post 2179919892394898050_8173777065 Glasses make me feel smart. There I said it. 🤓
.
.
New workout clothes make me feel excited to exercise. Just like new gym shoes make you “run faster and jump higher”. .
.
A new planner makes me feel organized and ready to tackle the ever - moving parts as CEO of our family. .
.
A new steamer mop makes our floors the cleanest they’ve been in months - not because of the mop - because I’m so stinking excited to use it. .
.
An excel spreadsheet makes me happy my husband handles balancing the budget 🥴. .
.
My blue light blockers may be working against the computer screen glare, but they’ve also reinvigorated my excitement to type out a whopper of a DIY post. .
.
Whatever YOU gotta do to show up and handle the business today - DO THAT. .
.
We are the choices we make. We are the habits we practice. We are the average of our best and worst days. What will you today to bump your average? .

Instagram post 2167017578105508445_8173777065 You can either be the victim or the victor - either way, it's your choice.
.
.
You can choose to let three separate holidays be three single events or three months of over-indulgences and set backs. .
.
You can complain about your lack of motivation to work out, the office treats impeding your best nutrition intentions, or your kids' Halloween candy calling your name from the cupboard.
.
.
Or you can own it. You can decide that starting today puts you 60 days ahead of your New Years' resolutions. .
.
Whether that's snubbing Debra's latest baked goods in the break room or treating yourself to one or two Halloween sweets tonight instead of a handful morning, noon, and night for the next two weeks.
.
.
Here's a little brain buster for you - the candy tonight is literally candy you can BUY after you reach your goals. The baked goods, the turkey, the pies, the mashed potatoes - those happen every. single. year. Check your food FOMO.
.
.
Victims complain. Victors celebrate. Either way - it's your choice.
Instagram post 2165566727608510386_8173777065 Wanna know the #1 design flaw of our closet turned butlers pantry?
.
.
Locks. Definitely missing locks. .
.
Those fruit snack wrappers are showing up in some of the oddest places and not one of them is a trash can. .
.
Read all about how we transformed a cluttered closet to a butlers’ pantry - and learn what I never knew about wallpaper until months after the project - on Ooh La Laura today.

Instagram post 2161098712154254588_8173777065 This morning I won. My kids said I was “the best mom ever” - so obviously that’s true 😂but the reason for their exclamation will surprise you. .
.
Cereal made a comeback. And apparently, “this is the first time we’re having cereal in this house!!” Or so Noah told me while jumping up and down. .
.
Capt’n Crunch used to be a novelty reserved for grandparents’ houses - but not because I’m *that* far gone in nutrition land. .
.
I couldn’t control myself around the sugary goodness. In fact, I couldn’t control myself around a lot of foods - like cookies or zebra cakes or chips or candy. .
.
I thought controlling the pantry would be enough to control myself - but it wasn’t. It wasn’t long before I was overindulging on the “good stuff” and “healthy” treats like the overnight oats you see here. .
.
The harder I white-knuckled, the more I cracked, and set myself back and beat myself up. .
.
Until I read something mind blowing: “smoke isn’t the problem. You can’t eliminate the smoke without extinguishing the fire”. What the pantry was stocked with wasn’t my problem. What I’m stocking my head with is the fire. .
.
So the cereal is back. And I’m the best mom ever. And I gotta tell you - that does a world of wonders for the mental stock I’m taking inventory of. .
.
Is there a place in your life, mind or body where it’s likely you’re funneling energy towards the smoke? Where’s the fire? Share it in the comments below 🔥
Instagram post 2160378128495841581_8173777065 Pink. It’s the color you’ll see pro athletes rocking all month long. It’s the color of a ribbon someone has pinned to their lapel. It’s the lid of a yogurt container you’ll lick and dispose. It’s the awareness. It’s the anthem. .
.
But when you find a lump, put on a pink gown and find yourself in the mammogram waiting room - the shade is a little less rah-rah-rah. .
.
While you’re donating, walking, supporting, raising awareness and praying for a cure - be sure to do ONE more thing this month, and every month after: a self exam. .
.
On the last day of our couples vacation last February, I stumbled upon a massive lump - a lump that checked all the boxes. Within a day (and an international flight), I received a breast exam by my ObGyn. Two days later, I was squished, squashed and prodded during an ultrasound and mammogram. .
.
Early detection could be the difference between a major sigh of relief or the start of a battle and victorious ending. .
.
After what felt like days of holding our breath, Taylor and I both exhaled (and maybe cried and heaved) while the doctor reported my lump was dense tissue build up. .
.
Wear the pink, support the women who are in it, who have won it, the families who’ve lost to it, and most importantly- check YOUR breasts.
Instagram post 2159740578215129244_8173777065 You can't move forward with your foot on the brake and your eyes focused on the rear view. .
.
You can, however, spend a lot of energy revving the engine, learning all about the mechanics of how, why, what will make the vehicle move, and find a fault in the system and shut it all down without ever leaving the lot.
.
.
You can spend today giving energy to your best intentions, researching the best "diet" to fit your needs, buying the programs/trainers, and dressing the part. .
.
But - intentions don't make changes. ACTION, even the smallest movement, creates change. You don't need to understand every fundamental to just. get. started. .
.
If you want to catch your dreams, you'd better start running after them. Don't let the what ifs, I don't knows, and the size of the mountain keep you from taking one step toward them.
.
.
Ps - all my clearance finds from stories are linked to this photo. Screenshot to shop via the @liketoknow.it app or head to the blog and shop the items there 🛍
Instagram post 2155982153609963579_8173777065 How did you two know how to do that?
.
.
Google. You Tube. Pinterest. And plain ol’ Trial and Error. .
.
We fell into DIY with a wish for a console table [for a wall I could never get right] and an engineer husband who said “I can do that”. .
.
Taylor makes the cuts and measures twice. I come up with the wild plan that’ll inevitably make him remove his glasses, rub his forehead and take a few deep breaths. .
.
I can’t seem to get the whole “building” things down, but I can wield a paint brush and envision the potential like nobody’s business. .
.
Taking on the Newmarket house has been a lesson in how to eat an elephant. I spent most of the summer paralyzed and overwhelmed by everything that “needed” and actually needed to be done. .
.
I decided to approach it the way I approach fitness and nutrition - less talk, more action and one little step of progress at a time. .
.
When it comes to anything-we can let our thoughts hold us hostage or propel us to take action. Don’t be afraid to google, YouTube or pin HOW as long as you plan to IMPLEMENT what you learn. .
.
What action is your brain begging you to take today?
