Back to [SAHM] Life, Back to Reality
Chairs: Target // Light Fixture: Ballard Designs // Metal Shelves: Decor Steals
It’s been a few years since I stayed at home with the little ones. This summer, I not only have three mouths to feed and butts to wipe [okay 2, N can pretty much handle this one], but also three booming voices commanding my attention.
Summer Boot Camp
I couldn’t leave 10 weeks of summer up to chance so I’m coming in hot with a game plan and am armed with 100s when-in-doubt of Pinterest power plays. First, I’m serving up an interchangeable schedule that will rock the world of my routine-oriented 6-year-old. This child thrives when he knows what to expect [I’m looking at you Babywise].
To prove I’m not some crazy militant mama, I’ve got blanks to adjust our day as needed [doctor appointments, spontaneous trips, etc]. This isn’t my first rodeo so I know that flying by the seat of our pants is fun here and there, but eventually, things could erupt in a hot tantrum-y mess.
Dog Days of Summer
Each summer, our family slips right into the category of pool rat, but somehow by August, we still manage to burn out. It’s the easiest way to tucker them out, ensure a great nap and soak up the summer sun. This year, I’m adding in some fresh ways to fill those long hot days.
Word to the Wise
I recently read somewhere [and don’t have the source to credit] “If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan but never change the goal”. The goal for this summer is twofold:
1) Have the best summer ever
2) Don’t let mama go crazy
Mama Knows Best
My mom raised three kids, my sister and brother are raising the same size tribe and they might all laugh at me with my print-outs and plans. Maybe someone would laugh at you too, but here’s the thing, I know what works for my family and most importantly, myself, best. I am a planner-girl through and through so if having a laminated calendar guiding the way, then girl…you best believe I’m going to do that.
These cuties are all on board with having the best summer ever.
