Cat & Jack of All Trades
This is going to sound a little cray-cray, but hear me out. I have been known to shop in the Girls Department…for myself. An XL in the Girls’ Department is nearly the same as an XS in the women’s. Target’s Cat & Jack line carries sizes XXL, Plus XL & Plus XXL. Those sizes roughly compare to a women’s S, M, & L. Now it’s not a perfect system. However, this shopportunity can unearth some pretty adorable pieces at a lower price point than their women’s counterpart.
For example, this Stars + Stripes romper I picked up for the 4th of July:
At first glance it looks like a blue and white strip romper with red trim and then you notice it. The red star details and I am all heart eyes for it. This patriotic romper comes in under $20 and I am wearing a Girls’ XL. Initially, I was worried about the whole “pulling over my hips”. Shockingly, the fit is as on point as my size in the women’s department. This crisp cotton romper legit feels higher quality than Target’s Xhiliration or Mossimo line.
My white cork wedges are old and not my favorite style nowadays. I’ve worn them once in the handful of years I’ve owned them so I decided to give them another spin around the block. Imma be a practical woman for now so for now, I’ll just wish I was wearing these affordable wedges instead. Are you happy Dave Ramsey? You’ve broken my will to be frivolous! I kid, I kid...kind of.
This red + white + blue handbag is such a sharp statement piece. You can sneak a peak in a few of the photos. It will be more prominently featured in a coming July 4th-outfit-inspo post. Don’t forget to check back to see this bag in all its glory.
I’ve linked up a handful of darling blue and white stripe rompers [below] in case the girls’ department isn’t really your scene.
Want more ‘Murica #ootd looks? I’ll be sharing more casual looks for the holiday on my Instagram feed throughout the week. So tell me, how are you celebrating the 4th of July this year?
