Style Diaries
Y’all may not know this about me, but I have always dreamed of being a stylist. You can read more about what inspired that career choice here [hint – she’s a f•r•i•e•n•d]. Luckily, I get to live out my dream by styling outfits, scouring retailers and pulling together ensembles for Ooh La Laura readers.
I styled a variety of looks from Nordstrom to share with you today. I don’t know if you heard [wink, wink], but the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins July 12th [card holders get early access]. These items will likely sell out once the sale kicks off so lock in the deal and purchase fast.
On The Go
Jacket: Caslon // Top: Madewell // Shorts: Articles of Society // Crossbody Bag: Emperia
Sneakers: Ugg // Watch: Fitbit Versa // Necklace: J.Crew // Earrings: Kate Spade
Shades: BP
Whether I am running everyday errands, heading to a play date or out and about shopping, I like to keep my look basic and layered. There’s nothing worse than freezing your buns off while trying to pick out produce. This navy striped Madewell V-Neck Tee is comfortable, affordable and well made. When I say well-made, I mean you can wash it and the stripes will stay horizontal [unlike some other brands]. I am living for some mid-to-high waist distressed cutoffs this summer. This sweatshirt is the perfect thing to throw on inside the ice-cold stores and stuff in your bag once you walk outside. When running around the city, comfort is king in the shoe arena. I love these Ugg slip-on sneakers. They come in aqua, coral, and red.
Date Night
Dress: Eliza J. // Shoes: Sam Edelman // Bracelets: Canvas Jewelry
Earrings: Area Stars // Handbag: Cult Gaia
Look at you, getting a date night! Whether they happen once a week, once a month or once a year, I live by the “overdress” mantra. There’s no item in your closet worth saving for an occasion more special than knocking the socks of your significant other. I’m a UK girl so of course I’m a sucker for anything blue. This Eliza J. off-the-shoulder dress is the perfect canvas to play these bold prints and patterns off of.
Girls Night Out
Jumpsuit: Leith // Vest: Tucker and Tate // Belt: Halogen // Shoes: Splendid
Necklace: BP // Bracelets: Canvas Jewelry // Earrings: Kitsch // Handbag: Sole Society
Girls Night Out is the perfect opportunity to test out the season’s latest trends. Have you been wanting to rock that paper-bag shorts cropped pants look? Maybe it’s a romper or jumpsuit you’ve been waiting to put on? Either way, no one can boost your fashion confidence better than your besties. I’m a big believer that layers and texture create more dimension, giving your outfit an edge above the rest. I belted the Leith Cutout Jumpsuit, added a frayed denim vest and finished the look with suede platforms. I adore this casual and stylish ensemble. Who wants to meet me for drinks?
At The Office
Dress: French Connection // Pumps: Sam Edelman // Belt: Rag and Bone
Earrings: Elizabeth & James // Necklace: Bauble Bar // Blazer: Mural
Handbag: Sole Society // Scarf: Tory Burch
There was a point in my mom’s life where she literally wore a new outfit to work every day. Whether it was a new piece or a different combination from her closet, my mama owns the prize for most fashionable career woman. I am dying for this French Connection dress paired with the buffalo check pumps. The angle of the Mural blazer plus the belted waist keep the look sophisticated and sleek. The Sole Society handbag is the perfect accessory to dress up with a scarf.
At Home
Sweatshirt: Free People // Shorts: Rip Curl // Sandals: BP
Tapestry: Primitives by Kathy // Wood Sign: Second Nature by Hand
Lanterns: Melrose Gifts // Sheets: Nordstrom at Home // Google Home
French Press: W+P Design // Metal Wall Hanging: Creative CO-OP
I am a total homebody, but am not one to rock jammies all day. I get dressed first thing in the morning, whether it’s gym clothes or chill clothes. Since I prefer to keep my PJs strictly for nighttime, I like to keep stylish lounge wear on hand for when my agenda is mostly house-bound. The Free People purple slouchy sweatshirt is in my Nordstrom cart as we speak. Palm leaves are everywhere right now and I’m not one to shy away from a trendy pattern. The BP bow slides are perfect to keep next to your desk or couch in case you are pulled away from the comforts of home. French Press coffee is life-changing. Have you tried to make french press coffee at home?
By The Water
Swimsuit: J. Crew // Hat: Kate Spade // Sandals: Tory Burch
Cover-Up: Red Carter // Tote Bag: Cathy’s Concepts // Beach Towel: Ban.do
Whether it’s a lake, ocean, pool or sprinkler, your style game doesn’t have to stop winning. I’m styling my fave preppy beach look with monograms and Kate Spade to Gingham and J. Crew. The Tory Burch sandals are jelly’s and priced under $100. I’m anxious to see if they get marked down during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m so obsessed with details on the back that I almost bought a wedding dress I hated on the front, but loved on the back. If you click anywhere on this page, make sure you check out the back of this J.Crew swimmie.
