I’ve really been feeling the Holiday Party FOMO this year and yesterday, when I logged into Facebook, I had a friendly little reminder that a year ago, I hosted a Mom’s Night In “Favorite Things” party. It may have added a little salt to my wounds, but it was an excellent reminder that I had always planned to blog about this when Christmas time rolled around again.
When I first joined my “Mom’s playgroup” in 2014, a “Favorite Things” party was one of the first events I attended [because priorities]. It was originally intended to be a December event but had been postponed until February [just my luck since I was in NYC until the end of January!]. After such a great night and coming home with 2 of my favorite things [even to this day], I promptly began planning my own “Favorite Things” Christmas party.
In December 2014, I invited 6 mamas over for a hot chocolate bar and favorite things gift exchange. The ladies were asked to bring the following:
6 of the same favorite thing under $6 a piece
1 topping for the hot chocolate bar
I provided the hot chocolate as well as a light selection of appetizers and treats.
In typical Laura fashion, I themed the evening out with a few sparkly snowflakes and chalkboard/brown paper inspired decorations.

Once the ladies arrived and the hot chocolate had been poured, we each took a turn explaining what our item was and why it’s our favorite. The gifts were ooh-ed and ahh-ed and traded amongst conversation about children, husbands, and of course, celebrities.
