I enjoy my playdates with my mom friends and our toddlers, but it’s pretty hard to connect and socialize when you are interrupting conversations every few seconds to play peacekeeper between toddlers. As a mom, especially a stay-at-home mom, it’s so important to get together with other moms…sans kiddos.
Despite being halfway through my sobriety (also know as pregnancy), I decided to host a [white] wine and app tasting night for 7 other mom-by-day, girl-who-needs-a-drink by night ladies. The goal of the evening was to try out a few wines and bring yummy appetizers with recipes to share. Since half of my guest list were also with child, it didn’t turn out quite as planned, but such is the way with best laid plans.
I set the table with 7 wine glasses, 7 scorecards, 7 brown paper bags [hide yo kids, hide yo wine], the steps to tasting, food label tent cards for the appetizers, and the prizes for the best wine determined by the scorecards.
As the girls arrived, I took their bottles of wine and wrote their name on the label and then stuck them in a brown paper bag.Brown Bags courtesy of Liquor Barn Check Out
the mamas tasted the wines, but we ended up scrapping the scorecard/game
portion. The other 3 preggos tasted the apps…a few times for good
measure of course! Sober or slightly buzzed…it was a great evening
and a fun reason to get the girls together to talk about celebrity trash,
husbands, and of course the kiddos we sneaked an evening away from!
