Fear not followers, I have been keeping track of my “Happiness” daily, but just not posting! Here’s a recap:
Wednesday, March 18: HAPPINESS IS: Underwater
For some reason, I have been extra sensitive to all the constant noise in my day. I crave a few minutes of silence. The best way I have found to escape and just wind down is standing under the shower. I am routine-oriented to a fault. I take my shower ever night after we put the kids down. Tonight, I turned off all the lights in the bathroom and just stood under the running water. It was quiet, peaceful, and multi-tasking moment.
Thursday, March 19: HAPPINESS IS: Before the Sun Rises
I beat the kids to the kitchen this morning. It happens so rarely that when it does, I feel like I’m starting the day on a good note. They were snoozing away while I was drinking a fresh cup of coffee.
Friday, March 20: HAPPINESS IS: A Steal!
Stay at Home Moms can all agree, finding great deals on clothes for your little ones can make you feel like supermom and super-wife! Twice a year in Louisville, Little Treasures hosts a huge consignment sale for moms to buy and sell their gently used clothes, toys, and baby gear. I bought Aria 12 spring/summer outfits, 3 pairs of shoes, and a bathing suite. For Noah, I bought a pair of Jordan’s and a Little People car garage (slim pickins for 3T in the apparel section!). This all totaled to $70 and one happy mom and wallet!
Saturday, March 21: HAPPINESS IS: for sale on Craigslist
Okay, not actually…but while I was perusing the kids/baby sale section of Craigslist, I came across a killer deal for a swing set. I emailed the seller right away and low and behold, they live down the street from us. We walked down with our master swing-set tester (Noah) and once he approved the purchase with a few good turns down the slide, we had negotiated a deal for $250 (down from $300). Once we were home, Taylor was assembling a Swing Set Moving Team and I received a text from the seller saying $250 is too much and it’s ours for $200 instead! Sure it needs a few new slats and a little TLC…but you can’t beat a deal like that!
Sunday, March 22: HAPPINESS IS: Getting What You Want
This sounds…bitchy (?) but sometimes, it’s just plain true. Who doesn’t love when all the pieces fall into place perfectly? Taylor’s friends came over today to move the swing set from our neighbor’s yard to ours. It was as easy as it could be and honestly, if it had been anywhere other than our neighborhood, I’m not sure we could’ve done it. While we had the extra helping hands, I enlisted their help in moving our treadmill from the 2nd floor to the basement. It’s taken up space in our guest bedroom for 2 years, but it wakes up our kids if used in the early morning or after bedtime. Now that it’s in the basement, I intend to wake up earlier so I can work out before they wake up! This will allow me to spend Aria’s morning nap playing with Noah and making the most out of the warmer weather which will make for a happier bunch all around!
Monday, March 23: HAPPINESS IS: Checking Off the To-Do List:
Shopping and spending money can usually make me happy and those are simple tasks that don’t require much thought for me. Today, I was disgusted by our bathroom. Makeup remnants, hair shedded, dust, dirty towels…the works. The windows were open, the breeze was blowing in, and this bathroom and bedroom needed to be refreshed. I spent the second half of Aria’s morning nap and Noah’s preschool day cleaning our master suite from top to bottom. There is something about seeing the sun bounce off my clean countertops that elicits a smile from me and makes me happy.
Tuesday, March 24: HAPPINESS IS: Alcohol Free
I often say how I love a glass of wine or I need a cocktail after this day. I probably sound like a lush to my other mommy friends, but the truth is I rarely indulge and if I do, it’s usually only one drink. I have been trying to up my daily water intake so instead of grabbing the bottle of wine, I’ve been grabbing a bottle of water. I tell you what, the lack of alcohol has made me sleep more soundly and my skin looks better (probably due to the extra rest and water!).
