I’m right [or should I say write] in the middle of 2 blog posts to bring to you later this month: a how-to for staging your home and some of my best tips for flipping furniture on Facebook.
With the best of intentions, I thought I’d get one of them to you tomorrow, but then school was out for 2 days which left me wrangling the beast of exhaustion. Armed with some Heine Bros. Green Tea, I persist to give you my Friday Faves.
Conceal It

I try a lot of products. I am always game to try a new tinted moisturizer, cream, sunless tanner, contour palette, you name it. The name of the game is: make me beautiful and rested without breaking the bank. I tend to grab whatever piques my interest at TJ Maxx, but when I am struggling in a product category, I head straight for Pinterest.
Lately, my under eye coverage just aint hackin’ it. The products I had been using all summer were leaving my eyes creased and exposed by mid-afternoon.

Sephora is beautiful, but I’m most comfortable at Ulta. Most of the reps leave me to my business of browsing and testing and the price point is generally more aligned with my beauty budget.
I tested Smashbox Skin Flawless 24-hour concealer in Light Warm and Light Medium Warm Peach under each eye. I walked around the store, grabbed a few more items and got into the very long line. Time ran out. I had to pick up Leo from preschool so I put back my products and left with two bright under eyes.

A few days later, I was able to steal away to Ulta for Take 2. This time, I tested Tarte Shape Tape. After reviewing a handful of the 10,000+ reviews [with over 8,000 giving it 5 stars], I decided to give my relationship with Tarte a chance.
In addition to the concealer, I purchased the mini combo pack that included a setting spray, a primer, and what will now be known as the creme de la creme of setting powder.
The combination of the Shape Tape and Setting Powder leaves my under eye bright and crease-free all damn day. I’ve been dabbing it on in the morning, touching my cheeks with a hint of blush and calling it a daytime lewk. It’s just the fresh-up a girl needs.
New mantra: Messy bun, concealer on, getting shit done. Shop some of the concealers I’ve read 5-star reviews about below!

Makin’ Bank

After I posted last week’s faves, I realized I forgot one! I have been eyeing these Hearth and Hand piggy banks all summer long. Not only is the style on par, the message of spend, save, give is exactly what I want to teach our children about money.
However, at $25 a trio [times 3 kids], I couldn’t financially reason the banks as a need. Last week I stopped into a Target I rarely shop at and low and behold there they were on the clearance shelves: 50% off!

With the wave of Taylor’s approval, I grabbed 3 of the discounted banks. This weekend we intend to teach the kids about how to divide their earnings across the banks using a ratio of 45% Save, 45% Spend, and 10% Give.

Light My Fire

There is no shortage of dream backyards featuring fire pits and Adirondack chairs on the internet. For 7 years, we’ve dreamed of those over-filtered images and said one-day. Today is not that day. Our backyard is a mess, Taylor’s chopping trees and there’s still a big ol patch of dirt [re: mud, thank you Kentucky Fall] taking up prime fire-pit space.

Last month, we requested and received a joint birthday gift from my mom and her husband. A fire pit. The dream of what we will build some day shouldn’t steal the joy we can have right now. That means “S’more Saturday”, snuggling in uncomfortable outdoor chairs, and watching a movie on our semi-covered back porch.

For less than $150, our backyard activities have multiplied. The babes play soccer while Tay collects those cut-down limbs to start our fire. While a beautifully landscaped patio and yard are still on our dream to-do list, we’re content to soak in the surroundings of right now.

If you’re like us, don’t let less-than-perfect conditions keep your fire flamed out. Grab a pit, light the fire, and roast those s’mores with us! Shop some more stylish wood burning fire pits below.

I wonder what finds I’ll fall for by next Friday? Be sure to check back to “find” out. In the meantime, I’ll get back to writing those how-to’s and tips to share with you!
Have a wonderful weekend with fresh eyes, money in the bank, and fire in your heart.
