Blue Jean Baby
Happy August Friends! Today, I am sharing my 10 picks for denim must-haves in every closet no matter the season. There are so many styles of actual jeans that every closet should house: skinny, flared, boyfriend, girlfriend…the list goes on. Today, I am going to get started with just the basics. Let’s dive in…
Skinny Blue Jeans
The Details:
Jeans: Madewell Skinny Jeans // Top: Target [similar] // Earrings: Target [similar]
Every woman must own a quality pair of blue jeans. The style, I guess, can be left to your discretion, but I personally believe in the chicness a skinny leg brings to any outfit. These Madewell 10″ high rise jeans give a little stretch and cover the booty for even the deepest of mom-bends. Pro Tip: size down. If the price tag makes your jaw drop, my next favorite pair of skinny jeans are the Rockaway Wash Skinny Jeans from J.Crew Factory.
Black Jeans
The Details:
Jeans: Articles of Society // Top: TJ Maxx [similar] // Sandals: Shoe Carnival [similar]
Earrings: Target [similar] // Handbag: Kate Spade [similar]
A little black denim and distressing bring out all the cool girl vibes. What’s even cooler is the stretch these jeans give without ever bagging out. These distressed jeans run true to size and the price tag is nothing to scoff at. I wear them throughout the seasons and they look extra with a faux leather moto jacket.
Colored Denim
The Details
Top: Maison Jules [similar] // Denim: J. Crew [similar]
Red, pink, purple or [Kentucky-ish] blue, whatever color you choose won’t be wrong. Nothing brings a pop to an outfit quicker than a pair of colorful jeans. This actual look is for sale in my Poshmark closet. J. Crew and Old Navy always come through in the clutch with the bright denim.
White Jeans
The Details
White Jeans: H&M // Crop Top: H&M [similar] // Sweater: Target [Similar]
Embroidered Top: TJ Maxx [similar] // Fringe Wedge: Material Girl // Booties: DSW
Chuck whatever theory you have about “No White After Labor Day” in favor of white jeans all year round. I love a cozy sweater paired with the stark contrast of white jeans, it’s insta-chic and an unexpected find in the middle of winter. It takes confidence [and zout] to rock white jeans and I’m always here for it, ketchup-kisses from my 1-year-old and all.
Chambray Shirt
The Details
Chambray Shirt: J. Crew Factory // White Jeans: H&M // Body Con Dress: H&M
Romper: Loft [similar]
The Chambray shirt may be a stretch for denim classification, but, it’s a closet staple nonetheless. J. Crew [and J. Crew Factory] does it better than any. This versatile shirt that can be worn in a plethora of ways [as shown above]. I love pairing this shirt with anything from a sparkly skirt to black denim topped with a chunky sweater.
Denim Overalls
The Details
Overalls: TJ Maxx [similar/similar/similar] // Top: TJ Maxx [similar, similar]
“She could be a farmer in those clothes“…or Joanna Gaines. Admittedly, it’s been decades since I pulled on a pair of overalls. I usually leave the onesies to my babies, but I couldn’t pass up this distressed pair at TJ Maxx. Finding a pair of overalls has been akin to finding a needle in a haystack, between sizing, strap length, inseam, but they are a fun way to change up a jean and tee look. If you’re wondering why I shoot this look in a bathroom, click here.
Denim Cutoffs
The Details
Cutoffs: TJ Maxx [similar] // Tank: TJ Maxx [similar] // Shirts: Target [similar, similar]
Chucks: DSW
If you haven’t heard me talk about my favorite, favorite purchase of the season, well you don’t follow me on Instagram. I was on the hunt for a less expensive version of these cutoffs and Band of Gypsies came through at TJ Maxx with a $13 price tag. Oh man, it was the find of a lifetime. I’ve linked similar ones for y’all below [subscribers – head to the actual blog post to view the product widget].
Denim Skirt
The Details
Skirt: Target // Vest: Target // Shirt: Target // Earrings: Target
It’s currently 2001 and jean skirts are a summer staple, at least that’s how it made me feel when I first spotted demin skirts on the rack this year. I love the length, hem and hi-low effect of the Universal Threads denim skirt I picked up at Target. It took me almost all summer to step back into apparel I wore as a teen, but I. don’t. hate. it.
Denim Jacket + Vest
The Details
Vest: J. Crew Factory [similar] // Jean Jacket: H&M [J. Crew Alternative]
Yellow Top: J. Crew Factory [sold out online, but available in stores]
Linen Pants: J. Crew Factory // Jumpsuit: H&M
I shopped with my mom today and there were no less than 5 times where I said, “that would be so cute with with a denim vest or jacket over it.” She has a denim jacket in every color imaginable so this style tip fell on “duh” ears.
What do you all think? Did I miss a must? I mean actual style of jeans is it’s own blog post in and of itself. Drop a comment below if you think a must-have denim piece has been left off the list…because clearly I’m deprived.
